Consumer interest in cannabis is at an all-time high and is unlikely to wane anytime soon. From medical marijuana and CBD edibles, to straight forward recreational marijuana and countless CBD related products, interest in cannabis is growing at a rapid pace. Navigating the investment opportunities, however, can be fairly tricky given ongoing uncertainty surrounding the fairly nascent industry. Join the New York Alternative Investment Roundtable for a candid discussion with a panel of industry leaders and experts looking at the cannabis investment landscape and the many issues that are shaping its future. Among the topics panelists will address are varying state and federal regulations and emerging law changes that could finally legalize banking services for the industry and pave the way for the development of a national industry.

Gretchen Gailey is the founder of Panoptic Strategies, a consulting firm that works specifically with cannabis clients to make sure they have the traction they need to grow their businesses and influence policy makers. She has worked in the cannabis industry for the past six years in a communications and government affairs roles advancing the industry through its data and the stories of those involved. Most recently she was at KCSA Strategic Communications, as the Executive Vice President of Communications & Government Affairs for New Frontier Data where she developed and implemented an integrated strategic communications plan to advance the company’s brand identity, making it one of the most recognized companies in the cannabis space. She has also worked with lawmakers to inform them on tax policy and provided the U.S. Senate Finance Committee with the data necessary to draft cannabis tax legislation. Before that she served as the Communications Director for Congressman Bill Shuster (R-PA), the Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Gailey also has more than 10 years of experience as a journalist with Fox News and NBC News in Washington, D.C.
Robert Hunt is the founder and managing member of Linnaea Holdings, where he specializes in assisting clients with legislation and policy issues, due diligence and the structuring of both debt and equity transactions. Through this work, Rob has helped his clients navigate a rapidly evolving legal and regulatory landscape as well as address market sentiment from an investment perspective. He has founded and operated numerous successful cannabis businesses, including most recently Linnaea Holdings, an operating company focused on California-based cannabis assets, Shingle Hill, a boutique consultancy and market intelligence firm, and Tuatara Capital, one of the world’s largest cannabis based private equity funds. As an expert in and an advocate for the cannabis industry, he has been interviewed by countless media outlets. He has also taught continuing legal education classes for The American Lawyer on cannabis law and policy and is a frequent speaker at cannabis industry events. Prior to starting Linnaea Holdings, he was the owner and CEO of Rocky Mountain Hydroponics and Evergreen Garden Centers. He tailored his company to specialize in organic and hydroponic growing methodology to help maximize cannabis yields at commercial cultivation centers. He sold this business to GrowLife, Inc. where he served as both the President of the retail division and a director of the company.
Jeffrey Schultz is a partner at Feuerstein Kulick, focusing on advising hedge funds, private equity funds, venture capital funds, family offices and investment managers on all regulatory, legal, compliance, operational and risk issues. Prior to joining Feuerstein Kulick, he was the General Counsel, CCO and Partner at Navy Capital, one of the largest and longest-tenured private funds dedicated to investing in the cannabis industry. With a first-hand perspective as in-house counsel for nearly a decade, he provides a unique and valuable perspective that allows him to provide real-world advice and practical solutions to the complex issues faced by investment funds and investors in the cannabis industry. He also focuses on advising cannabis industry operators on M&A and capital raising, banking laws, state-law cannabis compliance, corporate governance, intellectual property matters and strategic partnerships. Jeff uses his cannabis industry expertise to assist companies of all sizes to develop creative and efficient financing solutions, turn-around initiatives and strategic growth initiatives. He also advises stakeholders and lawmakers on the adoption and implementation of legalized medical and adult-use cannabis programs. he has advocated to the United States Senate on cannabis policy reforms, including passage of the SAFE Banking Act, and to the New York State Senate and Assembly on the CRTA/MRTA. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association Committee on Cannabis Law and Co-Chair of the Financial Services Committee of the New York City Cannabis Industry Association.
Michael Zaytsev is the founder and CEO of High NY, one of the world’s largest cannabis Meetup groups, the author of “The Cannabis Business Book” and host of “The Cannabis Business Coach Podcast.” In his role with High NY, he has produced dozens of cannabis education and networking events for thousands of people. He has served as a cannabis industry mentor for the National Science Foundation and for Founder Institute and has written for a wide range of publications including Forbes and International Business Times. Prior to starting High NY and venturing into writing, he began his career as a financial analyst at J.P. Morgan before moving to Silicon Valley to work in Brand Marketing and Software Sales at Google.
