Implications of the Tax Reform Package: Insights & Considerations for 2018 & Beyond

In honor of International Women’s Day, the Roundtable’s March event will feature an all-female panel of experts from within the alternative investment industry who will discuss some of the implications of the tax reform legislation for the alternative industry and beyond. Panelists will touch on both the short-term and long-term implications of the changes for corporations pass-through entities and employees and individuals, as well as the current impact on domestic and foreign entities, state and local governments, the federal deficit and who the biggest winners and losers will likely be.

Jamie Fowler is the national managing partner for Tax Services at Grant Thornton and is a member of the firm’s Senior Leadership Team, with responsibility for one of the firm’s three main business lines (Tax Services, Audit Services and Advisory Services). Ms. Fowler has more than 32 years of experience leading large-scale organizational structuring for companies worldwide and frequently consults with members of Congress and others on tax and accounting matters.

Michele Itri is the co-chair of Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt’s Tax Law Practice LLP, where she focuses on the tax and legal aspects of investment funds, financial instruments, international transactions, corporate and real estate transactions. She deals with all aspects of federal, state, local and international taxation, with an emphasis on onshore and offshore investment funds, venture capital transactions, corporate acquisitions, financial instruments and real estate acquisitions and dispositions. She assists clients in the structuring of onshore and offshore investment funds and in the structuring and organization of private partnerships and limited liability companies.

Margo Wolf O’Donnell is a partner in Benesch’s Labor & Employment Practice Group and has been recognized as one of The Best Lawyers in America and was included among the publication’s top fifteen “Women of Influence” in the legal profession nationwide. Ms. Wolf O’Donnell is an experienced litigator who handles a variety of cases, including litigation involving restrictive covenants, business torts, employment issues, intellectual property and class action defense.

Randi A. Schuster is the principal-in-charge of Baker Tilly Virchow Krause’s New York trust and estate group. She has more than 25 years of experience with federal and state taxation of individuals’ trusts and estates; organization and taxation of private foundations; public charities; and estate planning for individuals with inherited wealth who are owners of closely-held businesses. Ms. Schuster helps set Baker Tilly’s policy regarding compliance issues involved in the preparation of gift, trust and estate tax returns.
