Join the New York Alternative Investment Roundtable for an in-depth conversation with Rep Patrick McHenry (R -NC) and Assemblywoman Nicole Maliotakis (R-Staten Island) for a conversation about the latest developments regarding the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).
Congressman McHenry will discuss what is new in Washington D.C., while Assemblywoman Malliotakis will discuss developments in Albany.
Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis has served as an assemblywoman for New York State since 2010, representing a district spanning the boroughs of Brooklyn and Staten Island. Prior to being elected, she served as a liaison for the late State Senator John Marchi and Governor George Pataki. Subsequent to Governor Pataki’s departure from office, she worked as a public affairs manager for Con Edison, focusing on the state’s energy, economic and environmental policies. In 2012 Malliotakis was named one of “40 Under 40 Latino Rising Stars” by the Hispanic Coalition of New York, and one of Greek America’s “Forty Under 40” Class of 2012. And in 2013, she was named one of the American Conservative Union’s “Top 10 Under 40.” She was identified by MSNBC as a “young conservative to watch.” In 2014, she was selected by the China-U.S. Exchange Foundation to participate in a visit to Beijing, Chengdu, and Shanghai to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
Congressman Patrick McHenry is serving his eighth Congressional term as a representative for North Carolina’s 10th district. He currently serves as the Republican Leader of the House Financial Services Committee. Prior to that, he was Vice Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee. In 2015 he was the Chief Deputy Whip and assisted then Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R –LA), and before that he served as Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee’s Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. Among initiatives that McHenry has been helped to pass is the “RAISE Act” (Reforming Access for Investments in Startup Enterprises), which was signed into law by President Obama, providing the means for startup employees to sell their stock options to private investors. He also authored the primary legislation to legalize equity-based crowdfunding in the United States –language that was eventually included in the JOBS Act that President Obama signed into law in April 2012. Before being elected to Congress in 2004, McHenry represented North Carolina’s 109th District in the state’s House of Representatives. He also served as Special Assistant to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor, a post he was appointed to by President George W. Bush. Among several other awards, in 2009 he was recognized by Time Magazine as one of the “40 Under 40,” a list of rising stars in American politics. McHenry is a graduate Belmont Abbey College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History.
